Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in The Marathon de Paris on April 11, 2010 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

On a more personal note, in the fall of 2008 I was faced with the very scary diagnosis from my doctors that I, myself had lymphoma. During the months of September, October, November and December family and friends rallied around me as I went for tests, scans and visits to oncologists and surgeons. After I had one of my lymph nodes removed at the end of November I was blessed with the news that the initial diagnosis was WRONG. I had Epstein Barr Virus and not lymphoma.

Through this experience I have learned that life is precious and that just being grateful isn't enough. I knew I had to do something so I have decided (being blessed with my health) that I am going to RUN for all of those who can't and are still affected by this disease.

I’m completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, many of whom I met during my many visits to Princess Margaret Hospital last fall. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
