Arlene Smith Memorial Fund

In memory of a woman dedicated to family and community, United Way has created the Arlene Smith Memorial Fund. Arlene worked at United Way for seven years and her work with and dedication to community began long before. Arlene was passionate about people and allowing everyone the opportunity to live life in the way they wanted – with respect, love, support and friendship. The areas of mental health and disability were important to Arlene and she was a strong advocate for families locally.

Her quiet demeanour did not give away the passion she had but her eyes and smile said it all. Though life was never easy for Arlene and her family she was quick to point out that she was blessed in many ways and on a daily basis. Her positive outlook kept many people grounded and hopeful and her patience made them feel safe. To continue Arlene’s support to the community, Arlene’s family, working with United Way staff, will invest the interest earned on this fund to local registered charitable organizations doing great work in our community.
