Let Your Body and Mind Smile

We all know what it is like to have an off day, to feel under the weather, or to suffer the strains of dealing with a family trauma. Most of us have the tools and resources to express ourselves, to be understood, to work things out. Some of us know what it is like to be overwhelmed enough to seek help in order to get us through a difficult period in our lives. Now think of an infant, small child or adolescent in the same scenario who is not equipped nor has the resources to work through it without assistance. And like some adults they do not always know how to ask for help. But there is help available specifically for children in the form of the psychiatry department at the Sick Kids Hospital. When we think of children being sick and having to visit or stay at Sick Kids we usually think of these kids being physically sick. Let us not forget about the children who for some reason or another are patients due to their mental health. Please join me in supporting the team of dedicated individuals in the Psychiatry department, who tirelessly work to support and help the children that come through their doors in need of a helping hand.
