Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

My brother Chris (the athletic one) and I (the non-athletic one) are training to participate in the Montreal marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Team In Training. Chris will be running the full marathon and I (again, please remember I am the non-athletic one) will be running the half marathon. .

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

Chris and I are completing this event in honour of my dear friend Neil Wiernik who is currently undergoing a stem cell transplant in Toronto, Ontario. He is a cancer warrior who has been battling a rare form of Hodgkin's Lymphoma referred to as NLP-HL since March 2007.

Neil Wiernik is an audio contortionist, curator and digital media specialist. He has presented projects at the Finland Contemporary Museum, ISEA, Subtle Technologies Conference, The Medusa Complex, Mutek Festival and Gallery Optica. He is also known under the moniker of naw.

Neil is a son, a nephew, a cousin and a loyal friend to all those who know him. He has created a blog / photo essay of his progression through his treatment process http://neilsnodes.blogspot.com/ which I encourage you to visit.

Chris and I look forward to seeing Neil waiting for us when we run into the Olympic Stadium!
