My Message
Young Storytellers has been one of the most rewarding things I've done in Los Angeles. The program is truly unique and teaches so much to both the writers and mentors involved.

Above is a picture from last year's Big Show at View Park Prep elementary school. It was my first YSF experience and one I'll never forget.

We have a strong team of 11 at View Park this semester - we appreciate your support of YSF. Thank you.

LAUSD is about to slash 2,000 teaching positions, and has suspended funding to outside arts organizations. Foundation support, as well as public and private donors, are all tightening their giving belts.

The Young Storytellers Foundation is a Los Angeles based non-profit organization dedicated to developing literacy, self-expression and self-esteem in elementary school students through the art of storytelling. YSF currently serves over 2,500 students in Los Angeles public schools where the concentration of poverty is high and the academic performances tend to be low. During a six-week session of one-on-one mentoring, fourth and fifth grade students write their own short screenplay. Then, YSF invites professional actors to perform the student’s scripts in the school auditorium in front of family, friends, and faculty. YSF provides a means of expression for under-served children, helping them find a unique voice and sense of confidence that will last their entire lives.
