Sven's 2012 Mount Logan Summit Attempt in support of UNICEF Canada
Hello and welcome! I'd like to invite you to join me in a special team effort in support of UNICEF Canada: An expedition onto Mount Logan, including a summit attempt. UNICEF Canada works under the vision "Every Child. Every Opportunity. No Exceptions." Logan is Canada's highest peak (~19,550 feet) and the second highest in North America, next to Denali. It is located in the Yukon's Kluane National Park and Reserve. The climb will take about three weeks, from 14 May until 3 June 2012, and I'm climbing with a group led by International Mountain Guides (mountainguides.com). Let's join in helping children affected by conflict and disaster climb the mountain of their dreams. Please consider pitching in some dollars (via the "Sponsor Me" button below) and, equally important, helping to raise awareness by spreading the word among friends and contacts, using the social media links provided on the top left side of this page. All contributions will go directly and in full to UNICEF Canada. Further info and updates via Twitter (@SvenTrueNorth) and Facebook (Sven Spengemann). Many thanks for your support and interest in the work of UNICEF, and best wishes!
QUICK UPDATE: I returned from the climb in early June. We didn't manage to tag the summit but got to 18,100 feet (Prospectors' Col). A copy of the story is available via email request (email@example.com), and pictures are available on Facebook. Let's see if we can break the 10k mark in contributions! Best, Sven
