Head Shave for Humanity
Why a Fundraiser for the Horn of Africa?
Last year, I traveled to rural Kenya with a NGO. I was touched by the generosity, kindness and overall happiness of the people that I encountered despite the poverty and lack of basic necessities. I have been so affected by the news of the famine that is occurring in the Horn of Africa that I feel like I need to do something to raise funds for a country that did so much for me.
Why a headshave?
The Masai tribe from the Masai Mara in Kenya uses head shaving as a symbol of change and new beginning at rituals and events to signify starting a new chapter. I hope that with my efforts in this fundraiser that I am able to raise money to support a change for people of Somalia and Kenya.
What is my goal?
My goal is to raise 1,000 dollars for the people that are suffering in the Horn of Africa. I hope to do this through monetary donations to CARE Canada. There are also other ways to participate in the fundraiser and advocacy campaign. Please look at my website: www.whyshouldicareaboutafrica.tumblr.com for more details about the fundraiser!
It takes just 25 cents for a child to be fed in the Horn of Africa for a day. Anything helps!
I can't thank you enough! :)
