With any new year we are faced with change, reflection, and resolutions. Personally, 2011 began with great adversity as a colleague and close personal friend is facing a challenging time. He is doing so with the utmost grace and courage and is the source of my inspiration. To show my support for him and his family, I have decided to embark on a journey of a lifetime.

For me to complete this journey, a support network built on a solid foundation is key. You are part of my solid foundation.

The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is one of the world’s longest charitable cycling events on behalf of childhood cancer. The event is organized and managed by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation.

The Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children and their families who’s lives have been touched by cancer. The Foundation’s commitment is to direct 100% of all individual donations raised towards pediatric oncology, survivorship and support programs focused on improving the survival rate of children with cancer.

Please join and support me on my journey. Being selected as one of the 2011 National Riders is a prestigious honor. With this honour comes various exciting opportunities and possibilities. I have the courage and conviction to cycle 7,000 kms alongside 41 teammates, across our vast countryside beginning in Vancouver on September 8th and finishing in Halifax on September 23rd, 2011. I will be required to commence and maintain a rigorous training program to aid in my performance to achieve an average 250-350 kms per day for 16 consecutive days. This will require a great deal of commitment, dedication, passion and hardwork to achieve such a feet in only 7 months, but I look forward to this challenging opportunity.

In view of how cancer has personally touched the lives of colleagues, family members and friends worldwide, I am hopeful that you will support such a noble cause.
