Education for Africa

According to the Tanzania National Gender survey, approximately 60% of women live in absolute poverty and lack the necessary food, clothing, and shelter for themselves and their families.

Further, youth who are unable to continue their formal education through secondary school and beyond, lack vocational and entrepreneurial skills and ultimately join the ranks of the unemployed - continuing the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

You can help to change this picture by supporting this important project which will address economic insecurity throughout Tanzania by training women and youth, helping them to acquire the vocational skills they need to secure livelihood opportunities so they can support themselves and their families.

Village Savings and Loan Association groups and Input Marketing Associations will be formed so participants can access small loans and savings facilities to start businesses and manage household cash flow. Representatives from groups who show exemplary results will be enlisted as trainers for new groups in other communities, making the project a truly sustainable solution to a common issue in Tanzania.

Benefiting 11,000 women and youth directly, this 5 year initiative will have even further reaching impacts, ulimately touching the lives of tens of thousands of people across Tanzania, as entire communities are led on a path to self sufficiency.
