In Loving Memory of Danny Kassap
Danny's optimism matched his immense talent as one of Canada's top distance runners. In 2004, Danny won the first marathon he ever ran - the Toronto Waterfront Marathon - in 2:14:50, bringing new hype to the race. He excelled in numerous road races in any distance from 5k to 42k and quickly became well known and well respected in the field.
For those who had the privilege of knowing him, all would agree that his smile was as wide as his stride. His irrepressible determination and graciousness brought joy and inspiration to many.
Danny had been training to compete in this year's Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 16th. His goal was to make Olympic qualifying time and realize his dream of proudly representing Canada in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London UK.
Danny inspired numerous people, many who have never wore running shoes until now(!), to take on his race at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
We invite you to support us on October 16th and in turn keep Danny's spirit and dream alive by helping the next great Canadian athlete represent our country in the 2012 London Games.
Danny you are so deeply missed, but you continue to remind us to "never give up", and your indelible spirit will live on in us forever.
We love you.
