Habitat Toronto's Women Build '08 - Heather Hammers
I have forged some amazing relationships and had some great opportunities in my life. I want to take that energy to a new level by giving something back. In 2007, I got involved with the Halton chapter of Habitat for Humanity. More recently, I was introduced to the Habitat for Humanity Toronto - Women Build initiative and was very excited to get involved. Habitat for Humanity believes in offering “a hand up; not a hand out”. This program assists families in obtaining housing by endorsing their participation in their own future. Habitat for Humanity's Women Build Program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of 10 Habitat houses for families in need. The Women Build Blitz will take place in the Fall of 2008. In order to participate in this blitz, my challenge is to raise a minimum of $500.00 toward the cost of materials. Why start fundraising now, you ask? The women and girls (aged 16 and over) who have raised the most money by May 30 will get priority booking for their volunteer shifts during the Women Build Blitz. If you believe that every women and child in Canada has the right to live in a safe, proper, affordable home – please help me to reach my goal. Each donator will instantly receive their tax receipt on-line.
