In Memory of Jack David McCannell

Jack David McCannell was born on January 1, 2011. We had only a few short days with him before he contracted Meningitis, and it catastrophically injured his brain. He was declared on Sunday January 9th after being with us only 8 days and 5 minutes. The team at SickKids did everything they could to save our little man, and for that we will eternally be grateful. We sincerely hope no one ever has to step foot into SickKids, but please know it is run by angels- both heaven and hell simultaneously exist under one roof. On January 11th, Jack became a hero. He donated his liver and in doing so saved the life of a seven month old boy. It helps us to make some sense of his death to know another baby will live because of his gift. Another family will be saved from the excruciating agony of losing their baby. We are beyond devastated. He was born into a family so full of love for him, so ready for him, and surrounded by the very best friends anyone could ever ask for. We now have our own guardian angel, who will watch over us and any brothers and sisters we give him- we are hoping to keep him busy. Please don't pity us, we've known more love in 8 days than some people ever find in a lifetime. We are so proud to have known him, to have been his mum and dad, and we will forever love and remember him as the perfect little boy he was. We know we have your love and support.
