Hi Everyone,
For Halloween this year, I plan on participating in 'Trick or EAT', collecting canned goods for those faced with hunger in Canada. My goal is to raise $5000, and I'd be grateful if you could help me achieve this goal by donating whatever you can.
I will do my share by matching 10% of donations, up to $190. I will also give away at least 8 prizes to lucky donors who support my cause. These prizes all have been won through various initiatives over the last year.
The top fundraiser of the Trick or Eat event will be awarded an iPod Touch. If you help me win this title, then I will also give away the iPod Touch to one of you lucky donors.
Possible prizes that I will give away to you lucky donors are:
- $25 gift card to The Keg
- $5 Shopper’s DrugMart gift card
- $25 Earl’s gift card
- $5 Starbucks gift card
- McAfee Total Protection 2009 (3 licenses)
- Sword Impulse Gundam model 1:44 scale
- iPod Touch Gelaskin
- Spider-Man 3 DVD
Why should you donate? There are 2.7 million Canadians facing hunger this year. With a donation as small as $2.50, the Meal Exchange project can buy 1 meal.
What is the significance of your action? To answer this, I would like to share some words of wisdom.
Recently, a friend of mine took me to Church. Many of you know that I am Buddhist, but I know that I can still learn a lot from many religions of the world. At the service there was a guest speaker, Richard Stearn, President of World Vision, who delivered a moving speech. He said something that will stick with me a long time. I can't remember his exact words, so I will paraphrase it:
Whenever you tell yourself, or you tell someone that you are just ONE person and that you CANNOT make a difference, remember this: You are a piece of an infinitely large puzzle, and the picture will be incomplete without you.
I am asking you to complete this puzzle.
Your friend always,
Nathaniel Ngo
