After my own health scare this year, I know what it's like not to breathe. For me, my lungs will make a 100% recovery in time. For someone with Cystic Fibrosis, loss of breathing capacity is permanent and pervasive. It's not something any of us should wish for, and it's an incredibly difficult disease to live with.

A very good friend of mine has a daughter with Cystic Fybrosis. She's 15, and has a life expectancy of 38. Erica endures 3 hours of physiotherapy treatments to clear her lungs, swallows 25-30 pills to help digest her food, a variety of antibiotics and 2 doses of steroids - every day!! This combination of medicine and physiotherapy are necessary to keep her healthy. Despite this, she's done some incredible things. She is a ballet dancer, and has been dancing for 9 years. In her eyes, there's nothing that she physically can't do.
