WE'VE REACHED OUR GROUP GOAL OF $50,000! THANK YOU to all who have supported us!!!!!!!!

You may not be aware, but Sue-Ellen, Chelsea and I are climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of our "bucket list" and to
support Awet Secondary School in Kimbia Ya Simba (Camp of Lions) in Karatu District. After our climb, we will be assisting in building a dormitary for girls for 3 days.

Many families want to send their children to Awet because it has the best test scores in Karatu District. For this reason it has 649 students (373 girls). We understand that it is important that female secondary school students stay in dormitories. If girls stay at home they are under pressure to do household chores - cooking, fetching water, childcare etc. - at the neglect of their studies. If they live away from home in Kimbia Ya Simba they are at risk of harrassment by local men and boys.

We will be completing this climb with breast cancer survivors. As we lost both Mom and my Uncle Ernie to cancer, we will also be doing this climb and the build in memory of them. We intend to push to the top to prove that cancer like this challenge can be overcome.
