Mon message
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am amazed at how short a time period can change our paths. On Monday 23 April 2012 I woke up to go to work with some uncomfortable feelings of neck muscle strain. When it did not go away and became a bit more distressing, I started to see my doctor and he sent me on a battery of tests. Blood work, scans, biopsies and more blood work. On Monday 23 July 2012 I was "requested" to go to the hospital where I remained for four weeks having more tests, blood work, scans and biopsies. Just before lunch on Friday 17 August 2012 I finally received a diagnosis and was released from the hospital to go home. By the time we got there (less than two hours later) we received a message that on Monday we had an appointment at The Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. After a week of being an in-patient at The Cross where amongst many more tests and scans, I had my first of 12 chemotherapy treatments, I became an outpatient for the balance of my treatments. Four months to the date of my last chemo treatment I signed up with TNT to walk my first ever 1/2 marathon in San Francisco. My friend Jacquie and I completed this event in just over four and one half hours on Sunday 20 October 2013 with our husbands cheering us on at the finish line.
So, to keep the momentum going, I am training to participate in another endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I’m completing this event in honour of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLSC’s mission.
I hope you’ll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
Thanks for your support!
